Who I am

I’m Yves Charbonneau — a filmmaker and off-grid yogi living in the boreal forest of Canada.

My work is rooted in a simple intention : to connect with places, feel their essence, and translate that energy into film. Through years of living in nature, practicing meditation, breathwork and conscious presence, I’ve developed a way of working that goes beyond traditional filmmaking. I don’t just document spaces — I reveal what is already there.

I’m currently traveling and connecting with conscious spaces in Bali and beyond, collaborating with retreats, communities and aligned projects to create meaningful visual stories that reflect their true essence.

How I Work

My approach is based on presence.

I take time to connect with the space, observe, feel and understand its rhythm before filming.

I combine complementary approaches:

  • Organic Filmmaking (OI)
    Capturing real moments, natural light and authentic experiences as they unfold.

  • Creative Direction
    Guiding certain scenes when needed to elevate the visual storytelling.

  • Subtle AI Integration
    When relevant, I integrate minimal visual or graphic elements using AI — always with intention, and always in harmony with the natural footage
    The goal is not to transform reality, but to gently extend it when the story calls for it.

This creates films that feel both real and intentional — grounded in reality, yet open to imagination.
